It’s your last year in high school and your future awaits you! You’re amazing, fun, unique, talented, special, and we love to capture all those qualities and show off the essence of you in photographs. So we’ve prepared 3 tips to help you look stunning your senior pictures:

Tip #1: Clothes matter! ┬áMost importantly, your senior session should reflect you, and as such, you should wear what you feel most comfortable in, and what makes you feel great! But, there are a few “rules.” Solid colors work much better than prints, and neutral or gemstone (i.e. dark reds, purples, blues, etc) colors work best. Layered solids are perfect. A favorite hat or pair of boots is great. You want to make sure your clothes fit well (not too loose or too tight), are wrinkle-free, and cover you in the right places. Stylish is great, ultra trendy maybe not as great, as more timeless looks will allow you to enjoy your pictures every time you look at them for years to come!

Tip #2: Grooming matters! Your portrait day is not the day you want to try a brand new hairstyle but is definitely an occasion worthy of making an effort to look your best. Your hair should be styled nicely, preferably away from your beautiful face. You can use some product to help hold it in place but not too much hair spray that it’s super stiff with no movement. Make-up should be tastefully done, blended well, and not too heavy or sparkly. Both guys & gals can use some concealer & powder to improve blemishes & smooth out skin tone, but have someone help you apply & finish it so that it looks natural. Be sure to brush your teeth before your session!

Tip #3: Posing & background matter! Mostly you can rely on your photographer to help you with these, but just a couple things worth mentioning here… Confidence and ease are what are going to help you to shine in your portraits! So, do your best to relax during your session, think happy thoughts, do something confidence boosting before your session, and make sure you like how you look. Follow the direction of your photographer but hold your body in a relaxed way (but do be mindful to keep good posture!!!!) and smile with your eyes! Interact with your background, whatever that is. For example, lean against a wall, hold a leaf on a tree or hold a flower, or put your finger in the water. And if you have props to use, such as a picture frame or guitar, hold those in a natural way.

Follow these tips and you will go far in getting the amazing results you’re hoping for! And, of course, contact us to schedule your senior portrait session. Be sure to ask about scheduling a group of friends for the same day and getting a discount!

Until we talk again, Love WELL and DREAM BIG!
